Press Release: Inaugural Meeting of the El Dorado Regional Fire Authority
For years numerous studies have been completed concerning fire services on the West Slope of El Dorado County (LAFCO MSRs, City Gate Report, El Dorado County Grand Jury…etc.). Everyone has suggested that the best scenario for individual fire service providers is to come together and collaborate to work better together to provide fire and emergency services.
Four fire agencies that provide services in the rural northern portions of the West Slope of El Dorado County have successfully made a huge move forward. Garden Valley Fire Protection District, Georgetown Fire Protection District, Mosquito Fire Protection District, and Rescue Fire Protection District have come together to create the El Dorado Regional Fire Authority (EDRFA). This new Fire Authority was developed to take advantage of improved communication and partnerships that will reduce expenses and increase productivity and services to the citizens of the four fire districts.
The inaugural meeting will be as follows:
EDRFA Board Meeting
9:00 a.m.
VFW Post 9241
6297 Main St., Georgetown, CA 95634
The Fire Board of the EDRFA comprises one board member from each of the member fire districts.
It is important to note that the four-member agencies will continue to exist and operate their individual fire districts, including adopting annual budgets and monthly board meetings. The EDRFA Board will provide oversight, goal setting, and information sharing to coordinate the working relationships among the four-member agencies to get the most benefit out of the EDRFA.
This is an exciting time for all of our agencies and citizens. The EDRFA intends to grow and develop a more robust model for providing fire and providing fire and emergency services to the citizens we serve.
